Job Description

Operates under the direction of Plant Management and Manufacturing Engineering leadership to assist production manufacturing automation machinery support activities, including advanced troubleshooting, programming of automation control devices, process development, and implementation of technical improvements across multiple product lines. Serves as a key technical resource for product integration and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

  • This role is responsible for assisting in creation and maintenance of production and NPI manufacturing procedures, creating and maintaining standard work, optimizing existing and future manufacturing processes, providing technical support to front line personnel.

  • Collaborating with all functional groups on all existing CPS and new NPS programs, serving as a liaison between Manufacturing Engineering and manufacturing production personnel on machine building related issues, and supporting MiTek’s Quality Plan, assisting increase FPY to meet the goals of the manufacturing production department(s).

  • Demonstrated proficiency in assembly, mechanics, controls, connectivity, sensors, programming (IPCs, PLC, VFD(s), Safety devices and sensors) and also have the capability of training and directing the work of others.

  • Attends/participates in meetings completes special projects/miscellaneous assignments as needed directed by department Lead or Manufacturing Engineering.

Production Functions:

  • Supports the Manufacturing Engineering and Production department in development and/or implementation of wiring, component assembly, device programming and deployment to in process Automation Machinery.

  • Supports CX/Service departments by evaluating W/O’s. Review information requested, parts that are missing, document and address with the appropriate parties directly with MFE, Production control representative. This would be for Automation Control devices including IPCs, PLCs, Safety PLCs, VFDs, Scanners.

  • Assist in the training of operators on all assembly cell/line operations.

  • Work with Quality Engineering to develop capable processes to support and maintain a continuous flow of quality products for MiTek Machinery build operations.

  • Identify/Assist, support, and lead actions for implementing cost improvements/lean projects.

  • Production floor engagement to exceed 80% of total time

  • Solicits assistance from peers and/or Manufacturing Engineering on Automation and product to assure production capable systems, and on time delivery of products.

  • Ability to update standard work instructions as required.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with hand tools, power tools, assembly, control electronic, sensors, programming techniques with minimum of (3) years of relevant experience in the assembly mechanical/electrical/electronic skills/ IT / software trades are required.

  • Setup and operation of RMS Multimeter, Computer, PLC, Safety Controls, VFD, sensors, and the associated documentation of actions performed.

  • Able to follow instructions, read, interpret, and troubleshoot engineering drawings or other technical documentation, and take direction from others to fabricate/assemble various structural systems.

  • Observe guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe work environment for self and others

  • Knowledgeable in MS Office, AutoCAD, E-Plan are a plus.

  • Strong organizational communication skills.

  • Detail oriented with the ability to work independently or within a team.
