A well-established digital platform innovator and enabler, manufacturing and engineering business is looking for a commercially minded HR Business Partner to join a team that is continually innovating and unlocking value for their people. The organisation delivers software, services, engineered products and automated solutions globally, collaborating across the building industry to support and accelerate transformational breakthroughs in design and construction.  The organisation is a Berkshire Hathaway company with a record of continuous growth and innovation.

Reporting into the EMEA HR Director and partnering with a wider global HR centre of excellence (business partnering, Talent, HRIS, Total Reward), you will be the trusted strategic and operational people partner for approximately 200 UK-based employees, with the opportunity to broaden your remit into Europe as the role evolves.

Alongside the experience listed below, the successful candidate will be comfortable operating as an individual contributor as a key member of the UK leadership team whilst adopting a pragmatic approach to leading the business people wise.  Those with a preference for structure and planning, devising and delivering outcomes through well-defined processes whilst coupling this with an ability to flex to organisational needs will succeed in this role. 

The current UK team will benefit from a process-driven approach from a detail-oriented individual who can operate effectively to ensure governance, compliance and consistency, whilst focusing on client needs and relationship building.  If you have a strong process orientation with the ability to establish, deploy, and continuously improve HR processes then please apply for this role.  The fast pace of the team lends itself to highly organized skills with a commitment to accuracy and data integrity. 

We’d love to hear from you if you’re operating at this level (even without the formal job title currently) in a manufacturing, engineering, and commercial environment where stakeholder credibility is strong.  Our software functions are also predominant, and so experience in communicating effectively with both Front Line and Desk Based populations will be beneficial. 

The Role

  • Supporting the HR Director to implement the People Strategy through actionable operational plans, aligning daily responsibilities with long-term objectives
  • Partnering with managers and key stakeholders, offering expert guidance on employee relations, matters of resourcing and talent, and conflict resolution
  • Being the on-site people partner for all HR related issues, managing your own administration
  • Keeping up to date with UK employment legislation developments, communicating updates on policies with stakeholders accordingly and ensuring application
  • Analysing and interpreting workforce data and insights to drive proactive decision making in collaboration with the HR Director
  • Preparing regular HR management information reports for senior leadership
  • Proactively identifying and supporting HR compliance and controls and mitigating risk
  • Supporting initiatives such as HR strategy and organisational change, including workforce planning, leadership development, succession, diversity and inclusion, wellbeing, restructuring, and cultural development programs
  • Enhancing employee experience, fostering appropriate levels of engagement, well-being, and retention
  • Drive ongoing workforce planning to forecast talent and recruitment needs
  • Working with business leaders to ensure competitive compensation and reward initiatives are considered
  • Working with the wider centres of excellence and Functions, to engage business-wide L&D initiatives, including coaching, support, and development of leadership
  • Partnering with centres of excellence across the EMEA HR team

HR Business Partner, Experience Required

  • Level 7 CIPD qualified or equivalent
  • Proven experience of working as a HR generalist in a senior role, ideally gained in an FMCG or engineering environment
  • Strong commercial mindset, with the ability to prioritise and stay pragmatic and solutions-focused
  • Experience managing HRIS systems and data, with a strong attention to detail  — Workday experience highly advantageous
  • Experience of driving working planning strategies, succession and talent planning
  • Solid knowledge of UK employment law (and the ability to apply it0 and a background managing complex ER cases
  • Strategic thinking and experience of implementing HR change projects
  • Comfortable operating in a complex and ambiguous business environment
  • Effective coaching and stakeholder development experience
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Occasional travel will be required
  • French (or other) language skills would be an advantage, but are not essential
