A Brief Overview
The Inventory Control Specialist I is responsible for supporting accurate inventory levels and ensuring materials are available to meet production needs. This role assists with inventory transactions, cycle counts, and basic reconciliation activities while working closely with Production, Purchasing, Logistics, and Finance teams. The specialist helps maintain data accuracy within ERP systems and supports daily inventory control operations to promote efficient material flow.
Responsibilities
Assist in setting up and maintaining inventory locations
Support kit issuing to production in alignment with production schedules
Perform cycle counts (count and compare system quantities vs. physical inventory; report discrepancies for review)
Monitor low inventory levels and notify appropriate teams for replenishment
Maintain inventory records in ERP systems and/or spreadsheets
Receive incoming materials and ensure proper storage and organization
Support daily stockroom organization and material availability for production needs
Assist in preparing materials for next-day production requirements
Generate and follow pick lists (part numbers, descriptions, quantities, and locations)
Support the distribution of work orders and materials to warehouse or production teams
Identify discrepancies or process issues and escalate to leadership
Participate in continuous improvement activities as assigned
Perform other related logistics and warehouse duties as needed
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Basic experience with ERP systems preferred
0–2 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain support preferred
Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or warehouse environment preferred
Soft Skills
Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with guidance
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Good communication skills; able to interact effectively with team members and internal partners
Physical Demands
This role is primarily performed in a factory environment and may be exposed to temperature changes, noise, vibration, and chemicals/fumes while navigating around machinery. A portion of the role may be performed in an office setting using standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
