The Painter is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate painting of assigned parts in accordance with established processes and procedures.

What You Will Do:

Responsibilities

  • Operate safety equipment and consistently follow safe work practices

  • Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications

  • Lay out, position, align and secure parts prior to painting using prescribed fixtures and proper work procedures

  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the painting trade

  • Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required

  • Monitor painting processes to assure desired finish is achieved

  • Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify the foreman or management

  • Determine required equipment and painting methods via established work procedures and apply proper painting techniques

  • Position and secure workpieces, using hoists, cranes etc.

  • Improve appearance of materials using sand blasting equipment

  • Package Material and help load and unload trucks as instructed

  • Cleaning surfaces to remove dirt, grease, or old paint using methods like sandblasting, wire brushing, hand sanding, or chemical solvents

  • Adhering to safety regulation, including wearing required PPE

  • Ensuring paint jobs meet quality standards and client specifications

  • Ensuring even coverage and correct thickness of paint specifications

  • Understanding blueprints or work orders to determine the scope of the paint project

  • Planning the sequence of work, especially in large projects where multiple painters might be needed to complete the job

  • Any other job duties assigned within and outside of the painting department, as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School/GED required

  • 1-2 Years Related years of experience preferred

  • Ability to read blueprints

  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring precision in applying paint, spotting imperfections, and maintaining high quality standards

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

  • Time Management: Prioritizing tasks, working effectively, and meeting production schedules without compromising quality

  • Problem Solving: Identifying and resolving issues such as paint defects, surface preparation problems, or workflow bottlenecks

  • Safety Awareness: Maintaining a proactive attitude towards workplace safety, following protocols and ensuring a hazard-free environment for oneself and others


Physical Demands
This is a physical position that requires the individual to be able to: stand, walk and carry up to 50 lbs., push/pull, climb, walk up stairs and crouch. This position requires the individual to be able to communicate through speaking and hearing.
