Job Description

Coordinator qualifies vendors, evaluates bids, and negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services. Assists in purchasing materials, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for the organization. Assist other buyer in tracking purchases, monitors vendor quality, and maintains a current database of vendor information. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.

Job:                   Purchasing Coordinator I

Location:          5019 90 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB T2C 2S9

Shift Times:     Monday to Friday 7AM – 3:30PM

Responsibilities

  • Assists in purchasing materials, supplies and services.
  • Creating and maintaining reports for tracking purchase orders.
  • Communicating with other buyers and suppliers on status of purchase orders.
  • Updating ERP system with accurate information.
  • Communicating with other departments regarding information and project status.
  • Learn the PO entry process, to support and eventually take over PO entry.
  • Coordinate with the inventory specialist and material coordinator.

Qualifications

  • High School/GED required
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basis
  • 1-2 Years of experience in procurement at a manufacturing facility preferred
  • Able to use Microsoft Office Applications

Additional Requirements

  • Valid drivers' license and proof of auto insurance required.
  • 5% Visiting vendors and other MiTek locations, local travel.
  • This role is primarily performed in an office environment where a computer, telephone and other office equipment are used as needed to perform the duties of the role. As part of the essential functions of this role, the individual will need to access a factory and be exposed to temperature changes. This may result in being exposed to noise, vibration, chemicals/fumes and navigate around factory machines.
