Job Responsibilities & Requirements
The Senior Electrical Engineer will be based in our brand new, state-of-the-art R&D facility in Earth City, MO and will have the opportunity to work on every automated machine line MiTek offers. This role designs, tests, improves, and supports robust machinery designed by MiTek for the truss manufacturing industry, helping our customers to improve their production output. Senior Electrical Engineers program, debug and update all control components such as PLCs, safety instrumentation and controllers, VFDs and servo drives. You will design the full control system with schematics, control panels, electrical assembly and be involved in every stage of the system from concept to production. Our Senior Electrical Engineers work closely with Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineers, Production and Software teams, and Customer Service and other administrative departments to ensure a successful product.
This role will work a hybrid schedule based out of our office in Earth City, MO.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, evaluate and support automated industrial machinery products for the off-site construction industry
Act as a technical lead for project execution artifacts of small to large scale deployments (i.e. cost estimates, schedules, resource needs, risks, forecasts, status, requirements reviews, design reviews, test readiness reviews, verification reviews, etc.)
Lead Production and Customer Service team members through troubleshooting and root cause/corrective actions
Design, integrate, test and debug NFPA79/NEC/UL508A compliant electrical control panels, parts and assemblies using industry best practices
Design, integrate, test and debug industrial PLCs, VFDs and Servo drives
Design, integrate, test and debug Industrial Machinery safety standards, safety Instrumentation and Controllers
Work with software developers to generate HMIs (software development experience will be a significant advantage)
Develop and maintain project engineering drawings using AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Vault (i.e. schematics, enclosures, control panel layouts, electrical assembly etc.)
Develop and maintain project documentation (i.e. system requirements, equipment manuals, test plans, project notes, etc.)
Ensure compliance with MiTek engineering procedures, guidelines, industry standards and governmental regulations applicable to industrial machinery
Perform engineering analysis and calculations where applicable
Enter new data and update existing data in SAP
Support Manufacturing, Marketing & Sales, Purchasing, Installation, and Customer Service organizations throughout a product’s lifecycle
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies
Mentor less experienced Electrical Engineers and Designers
Manage individual tasking while leading other Electrical and Robotic Engineers through project execution with minimal oversight
Some travel required (up to 10% during critical on-site activities)

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
10+ years of electrical engineering design experience
Proven experience working with industrial machinery
Proficiency with NFPA79/NEC/UL508A
Proficiency with at least one of the following: Siemens (preferred), Allen-Bradley or Emerson PLCs
Advanced proficiency with ladder logic PLCs
Proficiency with power distribution, circuit breakers, & terminal blocks
Proficiency with Motor Controllers, VFDs, Servos and Sensors
Proficiency with Safety Controllers
Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical (preferred) or EPLAN
Proficiency performing calculations for wire gauge and motor overload sizing
Advanced knowledge of machinery, industrial sensors and low voltage power devices
Experience with various Field Bus Networks such as EtherCat, Profinet, Profisafe (preferred), Ethernet/IP etc.
Ability to rapidly diagnose and troubleshoot automated systems
Ability to work individually and as part of a team
Strong planning, organizational and decision-making skills
Strong communication skills to interact frequently with stakeholders
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
