Job Description

Design, test, improve, and support equipment designed by Mitek for truss manufacturing industry. Work on robust machinery design that helps customers to improve their production output. Program, debug and update all control components such as PLCs, Safety instrumentation and controllers, VFDs and servo drives. Design the full control system with schematics, control panels, electrical assembly and be involved in every stage of the system from concept to production. Work closely with Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineers, Production, Software, Customer Service and other administrative departments to ensure a successful product.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, evaluate, and support automated industrial machinery products with focus in the Component Manufacturing (CM) and off-site construction industry.

  • Act as a technical lead for project execution artifacts of small to large scale deployments (i.e. cost estimates, schedules, resource needs, risks, forecasts, status, requirements reviews, design reviews, test readiness reviews, verification reviews, etc.).

  • Lead production and customer service team members through troubleshooting & root cause, corrective actions.

  • Design, integrate, test, debug NFPA79/NEC/UL508A compliant electrical control panels, parts and assemblies using industry best practices.

  • Design, integrate, test, debug industrial PLCs, VFDs, servo drives.

  • Design, integrate, test, size, debug industrial machinery safety standards compliant Safety instrumentation and controllers.

  • Work with software developers to generate HMIs (SW development experience will be a significant advantage).

  • Develop and maintain project engineering drawings using AutoCAD Electrical (i.e. Schematics, enclosures, control panel layouts, electrical assembly etc.).

  • Develop and maintain project documentation (i.e. system requirements, equipment manuals, test plans, project notes, etc.).

  • Perform engineering analysis and calculations where applicable.

  • Enter new and update existing data in MRP and ERP systems.

  • Support Manufacturing, Marketing & Sales, Purchasing, Installation, and Customer Service teams throughout a product’s lifecycle.

  • Review and stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.

  • Mentor less experienced electrical engineers and designers.

  • Manage individual tasking while leading other electrical and robotic engineers through project execution with minimal oversight.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university and 4+ years of electrical engineering design experience required

  • Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basis

  • Proven experience working with industrial machinery

  • Proficiency with power distribution, circuit breakers, overcurrent protection, and terminal blocks

  • Proficiency with PLCs, HMIs, motor controllers, VFDs, servos, networking, OPC, and sensors required; experience working in a Siemens environment highly preferred

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Vault

  • Proficiency with NFPA79/NEC/UL508A

  • Proficiency with Safety Controllers

  • Proficiency in electrical symbols with experience in circuit analysis

  • Robotics experience preferred

  • Experience in the utilization of vision systems

  • Ability to rapidly diagnose and troubleshoot automated systems

  • Ability to work individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team

  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and deadlines

  • Strong planning, organizational, and decision-making skills

  • Strong communication skills to interact frequently with stakeholders

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)
