Position Summary
The Senior English Trainer (English Trainer III) is a senior individual contributor responsible for owning the quality and business impact of English training programs.
The role balances direct delivery of high-impact business courses, quality governance, and capability building of trainers, while contributing to Talent & Development initiatives and projects.
This role acts as a quality anchor and subject-matter expert, ensuring training effectiveness through continuous improvement cycles, data-informed decisions, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
I. Business English Training Delivery & Class Ownership
Deliver Business English programs for business units, with a strong focus on real workplace performance (e.g. meetings, presentations, business writing, stakeholder communication).
Take end‑to‑end ownership of assigned classes, managing the full training cycle:
- Understand learner and business need
- Design and facilitate learning interventions
- Assess learning effectiveness and business‑relevant outcomes
- Proactively adjust content, methodology, and pacing to maximize impact
Ensure training outcomes are aligned with business priorities and support relevant business understanding and workplace application, beyond language proficiency.
Serve as a role model for instructional excellence within the training team.
II. Quality Control, SOPs-Curriculum & Material Development
QC-SOPs & Continuous Improvement
Conduct classroom observations (in-person and virtual) using standardized quality assurance tools, rubrics, and observation frameworks.
Lead quality review cycles by systematically analyzing learner progress data, feedback, assessment results, and trainer performance.
Develop, refine, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), instructional quality benchmarks, and calibration standards to ensure consistency across programs.
Translate quality data and insights into actionable improvement plans at both classroom and program levels, proactively addressing quality gaps and risks.
Curriculum & Material Development
Design comprehensive, needs-based English training curricula covering business communication, business writing, presentation skills, and professional English aligned with organizational needs.
Develop high-quality learning materials, including lesson plans, facilitator guides, learner handouts, assessments, e-learning modules, and supplementary resources.
Regularly review, evaluate, and update existing curricula to reflect current language standards, evolving business contexts, and learner feedback.
Pilot new or revised content, collect and analyze performance data, and refine materials based on learner outcomes and stakeholder input.
III. Mentoring & Coaching
Mentor English Trainer I & II through structured coaching, observations, and feedback.
Support onboarding and capability development of trainers.
Facilitate peer learning, sharing best practices and instructional strategies.
Identify development gaps and recommend targeted interventions.
IV. Talent & Leadership Training Expansion
Contribute to T&D initiatives such as leadership, soft skills, or capability-building programs.
Co-design or co-facilitate learning programs beyond English where relevant.
Participate in L&D projects with defined deliverables and business impact.
Apply instructional design and facilitation expertise to broader talent programs
V. Other Assigned Tasks
Execute additional responsibilities aligned with department priorities as assigned by line managers.
VI. Strategic Collaboration & Project Leadership
Actively participate in Talent Development planning cycles, contributing data-backed insights and recommendations.
Collaborate closely with the leadership team to enhance teamwork and improve training program effectiveness.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree required in Education, Linguistics, English, Communication, or a related field.
- Master's degree or professional certification in TESOL, CELTA, DELTA, is a strong advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Business English training, with at least 3 years in a senior or quality-focused role.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, classroom observation, and trainer coaching.
- Experience in leadership or soft-skills facilitation is highly desirable.
- Experience contributing to or managing L&D or Talent Development projects is an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in LMS platforms, e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Learning Pool, Canva, Google Workspace).
- Ability to design assessment tools, rubrics, and evaluation frameworks.
- Familiarity with data analysis and visualization for training metrics reporting.
Language Proficiency
- Native-level or near-native English proficiency at CEFR C1 level or higher (or equivalent)
